About This Picture

These Steller's sea lions were photographed at the Santa Cruz Pier in February 2006. They sleep in a large group, piled up against each other seemingly any which way. I am surprised and charmed by their apparent propensity to snuggle up with anybody in any position. It's quite a sight, and makes for many fun close-up possibilities.
