Artist Statement

I strive to show authentic glimpses of the natural world. The nature pictures you see at Mike Spinak Photography are recordings of real scenes and events. My nature subjects are found, not set up. I do not add subjects nor remove subjects from my nature pictures, neither on scene, nor digitally, afterward.

I seek out the natural beauty of the world which is hidden from normal perception but in plain sight, so that I can share the experience that the world is full of splendors all around us. I also seek out the ephemeral, to express the dynamism of nature, and to preserve and share fleeting moments of natural beauty and interest.

I try, to the greatest degree I'm able, to make every aspect that I include in a photograph integral to the composition, toward the purpose of communicating my experiences and perceptions of the scene.

I hope that my pictures bring viewers enjoyment, and help people appreciate nature. Thank you for looking.
